Jo-Jo did her RYT 200 teacher training at Corepower Yoga back in 2015 while she was still in school at Southern Methodist University. She then taught yoga at the SMU Dedman Recreation Center weekly for a year and a half. When she graduated, Jo-Jo began her search for a new yoga home; she found that at Namah Shivaya. She took classes regularly at Namah Shivaya for a year before becoming a teacher there.
Jo-Jo is a professional actress, so she loves that yoga gives her a space to hone skills essential to her craft, like her control of her body and her awareness of the present moment. It can be easy when you're young and busy to think of "me-time" as a time to stay up late and eat junk food. Yoga is a form of "me-time" that focuses on self-improvement with long term results - self care rather than self indulgence. Jo-Jo teaches classes with very focused themes and intentions. Moving your body through space with a specific intention connects the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of yoga all together.
