While I have considered myself a somewhat active person for most of my life, it wasn't until 2013 that I started to take my health more seriously. I was newly married to my wonderful wife Jen, and life was great. But I had gained weight and I was on a bad path that is all too common for most people these days. I didn't like how I felt or how I looked. Since 2008, I had been working in an orthopedic physical therapy clinic and seen firsthand just how important taking care of myself would be. I realized that I needed to take responsibility for my own wellness and longevity. Since then, I have trained for and completed a half marathon. I have developed strength through learning the principles of powerlifting and olympic weightlifting. I have brought focus to my diet by learning as much as I can about nutrition. And all along the way, Yoga has played a big role.
My main point of focus as an instructor is making Yoga accessible to everyone. I have a lot of experience working with people that are dealing with injuries or have had surgery. I enjoy helping students find the right modification for a pose.
My background as a musician has allowed me to produce all of the music that I play during my classes. That has a been a fun outlet and inspiration to my practice. I play guitar and bass at a church in Dallas regularly.
My life has benefited so much from Yoga and a mindfulness centered lifestyle. I want to share it with everyone!
